YEAR EIGHT PARENTS, EVENING
Tuesday 7th February 2012
We would like to warmly invite you to an afternoon/evening during which you can talk to your child’s teachers to discuss their academic progress to date and any final queries about Options for Year 10. Parents evening will start at 4.30pm and end at 7.30 pm. You will be able to make appointments throughout the evening. Attached is an appointment sheet, which your child should take to each member of staff to book an appointment. Please bring this with you.
If you have a matter of particular importance that you wish to discuss, please let us know in advance, on the reverse of the reply slip.
In order that waiting can be kept to a minimum we suggest that discussion should be limited to five minutes. Senior staff, including the Director of Studies and Key Stage Coordinator, will be available should further discussion be needed. Connexions representatives will also be available to discuss future career choices and their impact on options.
When you receive the next academic report you will notice that a change has been made to the target grades that our students are aiming for. Government policy has led to the previous ‘Fischer’ targets being replaced by the more challenging and aspirational target of two full levels progress from KS2 to the end of KS3. In the short term this may lead to the report showing an increased number of red ‘behind’ target reports. This should not be a cause for major concern unless it forms part of a previous pattern or it is not resolved in reports later this year. We feel that as staff and students become more familiar with the increased challenge within the new system our college will continue to increase levels of achievement and the number of ‘red’ marks will return to the present levels.
Plentiful, well-lit parking is available at the rear of the college, via Evendine Close. Kindly complete the attached slip and return to college by Friday 3rd February 2012.
