Performing Arts

Welcome to the Performing Arts part of the website.

The music department facilities include 20 networked computers, 32
electronic keyboards,acoustic and electric guitars and a range of tuned and untuned percussion instruments.
Sibelius composition and notation software is available on all the computers, together With Mu.Lab sequencing software.


Aims of the Department:


To provide all students with an exciting range of musical experiences and learning opportunities, both in the classroom and through a wide choice of extra - curricular activities. To develop knowledge, skills and understanding through the integration
of performing, composing and listening.

Satisfy all requirements of the National Curriculum for Music at Stage 3 and 4. This will be achieved through the orderly
progression of planned experience.

Descriptions of courses offered

At Key Stage 3 students develop their performing, composing and listening skills both individually and through the collaboration
with others in pairs and small groups. A wide range of music is explored from different musical periods and from different cultures.

At Key Stage 4 students can choose to continue their studies with
a GCSE in music (OCR specification).
