Update from Mr McClarey

23rd October 2020

Dear Parent,

Thank you for your ongoing support with all aspects of college life during this half-term.  At the time of writing we have had no confirmed cases of COVID 19 in the college however, the reality is that at some stage our community will be affected by the pandemic.  In the event of a confirmed case in the college we will follow our detailed action plan and work closely with the relevant authorities to ensure that close contacts are notified.  The college has detailed seating plans for every lesson and staff in the college work hard to ensure that Year group bubbles have minimal contact with each other as stated in government guidance.

Please continue to notify the college of any suspected or any confirmed cases of COVID 19 which occur during the half-term holiday.  Please notify us on office@blessededward.co.uk or by texting 07516502300.  The guidance states that anyone who develops COVID related symptoms or if a household member develops symptoms, they should immediately self-isolate.

At the moment face coverings in the college are still optional and students must bring one with them every day, stored in a plastic zip lock type bag.  We are continually monitoring the situation in respect of the wearing of face coverings and we will update parents if the advice changes.  Students will also need to continue to bring hand sanitiser and use it at the beginning of each lesson and when directed by a member of staff.

I am worried about the number of students who gather outside the college on Timberdine Avenue before 8.30a.m.  I appreciate that parents have work commitments, but it is not possible for us to ensure the non-mixing of bubbles if students are arriving at the college before 8.30a.m.  Students can only enter the college site from 8.30a.m. and should not congregate outside the college gate before that time.  Please remind your child that they need to arrive at college between 8.30a.m. and 8.45a.m.

Please be assured that the college risk assessment is reviewed on a regular basis and can be found in the “About Us” section of the college website.

Can I take this opportunity to wish you a restful half-term and I hope you get the opportunity to spend some quality time with your family.

Yours sincerely,

Greg McClarey
