Welcome back - Year 10

Dear Parent/ Carer,

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year, I hope everyone is well rested after the festive holidays. The new term has already started and I have been impressed with how the cohort have continued to approach their GCSEs with a mature attitude towards learning. We are already half way through Year 10 and it is essential that revision is well planned and ongoing. The following 18 months will go very quickly and it is vital that your child uses the support available to them as the pressure inevitably starts to increase. All pupils have been studying wellbeing and how they can cope with stress in the build up to exams.

The college production of The Wizard of Oz is being performed from 31st January to 2nd February, tickets are selling fast and are available at break and lunch in the foyer.

There is an opportunity for you to meet individual teachers and discuss your child’s progress on Wednesday 7th February at the Year 10 Parents’ Evening.  Please ensure your child makes appointments with the relevant staff.

The next report on how your child is progressing will be posted on the 12th March. If you have any immediate concerns please do not hesitate to contact form tutors or myself at the nearest opportunity.

We will also be looking at this cohort for some students to step up to be Prefects within our college, representing not only the year group but the whole college at a variety of events. These roles come with a fair amount of responsibility but are an excellent addition to further education/ employment applications. Please encourage your child to make the most of this opportunity.

If you have any queries regarding your child, please do not hesitate to let me know as soon as possible so we can implement the relevant support strategies. I know how precious time can be and it is essential we must ensure your child fulfills their potential.
