RE: Sports Day- Nunnery Wood athletics track, Wednesday 11th July 2018.
On Wednesday 11th July we are holding our annual Sports Day at Nunnery Wood athletics track. In previous years this has been a very successful day in which the majority of students compete in a wide variety of athletic events.
In the event of adverse weather conditions, the day may have to be cancelled. If this is the case, it will be posted on the college web-site by 7.30 am on Wednesday, the same way as it appears during winter for a snow closure. In the event of this being the case, students must proceed straight to college wearing full college uniform and a normal timetable will operate. Students who are already en-route to the track will be re-directed by staff and they must go straight to college without returning home first.
Students who do not travel on school buses will go straight to the track to be registered at 8.50 am and the event will finish at 2.00 pm when pupils will make their way home.
In the morning the S27 bus will arrive at college at the usual time. Teachers will then transport students travelling on this bus to the athletics track by college minibus. The S1, S2, S3 & S4 buses will drop students at the bus bay within Worcester Sixth Form College between 8:20-8:25 am. Members of staff will be waiting at the bus bay to escort students to the athletics track. All taxis will go straight to the athletics track and will drop students off at the usual time.
After Sports Day has finished, the S1, S2 and S3 buses will pick students up from the same bus bay at the Sixth Form College where they were dropped off in the morning. Students who usually take the S4 bus will be redistributed across the S1 & S3 buses and will be dropped off by them at their usual stops. Members of staff will escort and supervise students on to the buses.
Please note there will be no S27 bus in the afternoon. Students who normally travel on any of these buses are of course welcome to make their own way to and from the athletics track on this day.
We hope that the weather will be on our side, although we suggest that students should come prepared for all conditions by bringing sunscreen, hats and plenty to drink (preferably water) if it looks as though it will be warm and with waterproofs if it looks like it may rain. If a student forgets their sunscreen, they may be offered some unless you specifically inform us that you do not wish this to happen.
All students must attend Sports Day even if they are not taking part in any events and they will be expected to wear full school uniform. Participants must wear full college P.E. kit and appropriate sportswear can be worn if necessary.
Students will be able to purchase food at the track; this is provided by the College canteen staff. However, students should ideally bring a packed lunch to ensure that they eat throughout the event. Students who are entitled to free school meals will have lunch provided for them. These students should come to the tower at the track to get their lunch when they require it.
Parents are of course welcome to come along and support this event.
With your co-operation, we can ensure that Sports Day is once again an enjoyable and safe occasion.
