Uniform Policy 2020-2021

Addendum September 2020

This addendum will be reviewed on a half termly basis by the Headteacher and the Head of PE.

The aim of the policy is to ensure that students feel comfortable during their PE lessons whilst striking a balance with normal college uniform and the need to minimise time in changing rooms. The college is also mindful that as we move into autumn and winter students need to be wearing warm clothing especially those in key stage 3 who have to queue outside at lesson changeovers.

The college does not expect parents to purchase branded college tracksuit trousers or leggings. These remain optional items of PE kit. Students are not allowed to wear sports clothing which is not in keeping with the college’s normal high standards of dress.

Students will continue to be advised by PE staff regarding what they can wear to PE lessons.

Boys PE kit

Boys can wear the following on the days they have a PE lesson;

  • Black school shoes
  • Black socks
  • PE shorts under school trousers if it is comfortable to do so
  • PE shirt
  • College jumper

Trainers are to be carried in their bag and can be put on at the start of the lesson along with white sports socks. If students have Blessed Edward’s tracksuit trousers these can be worn instead of school trousers.

When wearing the college tracksuit bottoms boys can wear trainers to school instead of shoes. If boys are not comfortable wearing shorts under their trousers they can bring them in their bag and change into them before the lesson.

Girls PE kit

Girls can wear the following on the days they have a PE lesson;

  • Black school shoes
  • College leggings or college tracksuit bottoms. (Girls can wear trainers to college if wearing these)
  • Girls can bring shorts, a skirt or college leggings to change into prior to the lesson. These can be worn under their college skirt if comfortable to do so
  • PE shirt
  • College jumper

Trainers are to be carried in their bag along with white sports socks.
