Update : Covid-19 Vaccinations

1st November 2021

Dear Parent, you will shortly be receiving a letter from Vaccination UK, on behalf of the NHS, inviting your child for vaccination against covid-19. Vaccinations will occur in the college on 24th November 2021. If your child is between 12 and 15 years old on this date they are eligible to receive the vaccine with your consent. The college is liaising with Vaccination UK in order to provide a suitable space for the immunisation team to work in and ensure that all the processes and procedures outlined in their Standard Operating Framework are in place. Please note that the college is not involved in the gathering of consent from parents. Consent can only be given by following the link to the e-consent form in the letter from Vaccination UK which you will receive shortly. This letter also contains links to additional information about the vaccine including frequently asked questions. I have had assurances that clinical decisions around vaccination will not be made in the college on the 24th   November. Any queries which may arise on the day will be referred back to parents for them to take up with their GP. The Local Authority have also set up a query form which can be accessed here https://forms.office.com/r/GSfVvLyjkK This goes direct to the immunisation team and one of their staff will respond to any queries you may have about the vaccination program.

Yours sincerely,

Greg McClarey
Headteacher

Invitation letter for parents of children aged 12 to 15 years of age

1st November 2021

Dear Parent / Carer,

I am writing to inform you that we will soon be offering COVID-19 vaccinations in school. I would like to ask if you wish to give your consent for your child to receive a single dose of the vaccine.

This vaccination will be free of charge and our highest priority is making it easy for children to access one dose of the vaccine before the winter.

The main purpose of the COVID-19 school age vaccination programme is to provide protection to the children who receive the vaccine and it may also help to reduce transmission of COVID-19 in the wider population.

During the vaccination delivery we will maintain the range of measures we have in place to keep you safe from COVID-19.

The vaccinations for students whose parents have given consent will be carried out by an NHS immunisation team at Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College on Wednesday 24th November 2021.

Please do take the time to read the additional information which is provided in the links below to help you and your child to make an informed decision about the COVID-19 vaccination.

The government have produced information for parents and carers, which you can read here:

COVID-19 vaccination programme for young people: guidance for parents

There is also information for 12–17-year-olds, which you can read with your child:

COVID-19 vaccination – A guide for children and young people

Please indicate your consent by completing the online e-consent. Please note that the cut-off for completing the consent is 2 days before the scheduled session, so we kindly ask that you complete this as soon as possible.

The link to the e-consent form is below:

By consenting you will be helping to play your part in reducing the risk of COVID-19 spreading.

Best Wishes,
