I am very pleased finally to be able to welcome Year 9 students back to College after our long break. I hope that this letter finds you and your family well: it has been a strange and difficult period for us all but hopefully we are now on the way back to some normality.
As I would have expected, knowing my year group as I do, Year 9 students have returned to college with enthusiasm and have been well prepared to resume their studies. I have been very pleased with their readiness to observe the Covid safety measures we have had to put in place. Students’ uniform is, as usual, very good. You can imagine that it is even more important than usual that you contact us quickly if your child appears to be ill and this needs to be through the usual attendance line. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your child’s tutor in the first instance. You may already be aware that we have had some changes to tutors for the Year 9 team so they are listed below:
9 Ashley – Mr Hewitt
9 Clitherow – Mrs Booth and Mrs White
9 Jones – Mrs Barratt and Mrs Wones
9 Line – Mrs Strauss and Ms Morris
9 Pritchard – Mr Bryant
9 Sutton – Mr James
9 Wall – Ms Davies.
You will be aware that this is the year when your child will choose their GCSE Options Pathway and some parents have already been in contact to ask about the process. There will be further information coming out in the coming weeks about how we will do this.
Key dates for Year 9 this term:
W/b 21st September – Recall tests in all subjects.
Tuesday 13th October – Teacher Training and Planning afternoon – students leave at 1.35pm.
W/b 26th October – Half Term
Wednesday 18th November – Teacher Training and Planning afternoon – students leave at 1.35pm.
Friday 27th November – TED
Thursday 3rd December – Year 9 Parents’ Evening – this is unlikely to take place and we will inform you of alternative arrangements at a later date.
Later this half term we will be publishing an online replacement for the Expectations Evenings which would have taken place this term, giving information on how to support your child’s progress this year. Finally, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns regarding your child’s welfare. The best way to reach me is by e mail on firstname.lastname@example.org
